It is the sequel in the Diablo series of games which is best described as an action rpg game. The gameplay follows a storyline in a number of acts, which continues the route from it´s predecessor Diablo. In order to be told more of the story and continue the game, players needs to clear areas full of enemies. From defeating the foes encountered on the way through the acts, the players find better gear needed items and learn new ways of fighting.
The year 2001 the Expansion : Lord of Destruction was released, adding a new last act to the game. Making the story and game a bit longer.
This addition to the game also impacted gameplay. since more paths or ways of playing the game was added. Lord of Destruction also made more equipment and characters available. Diablo 2 supports multiplayer for up to 8 players. It is one of the games that helped to start of the fenomen of mass multiplayer on the internet.
